Pain Procedure Checklist
What a finished pain treatment plan looks like
A checklist for shots, nerve blocks, medicines and regenerative options, so you can spot the plan that is missing a piece.
Ask which tissue or nerve is treated, why this step was chosen and how relief will be tracked.
Write your questions down before the first appointment, then hold the answers up against them.

Someone in Nutley has offered you a shot, a nerve block, a new medicine or a regenerative option, and the offer sounds complete. Before you agree, learn what a finished, well done version of each one looks like, so you can spot the plan that is missing a piece.
Does the plan answer these?
Find the kind of treatment you were offered in the list, then see whether your plan can answer the question beside it.
- Injections: ask which joint or tissue the shot targets and what the plan is if it helps or does not.
- Nerve blocks: ask which nerve is treated and how the relief will be tracked afterward.
- Medicines: ask why this one was chosen, what dose is planned and when the plan gets reviewed.
- Regenerative options: ask what is injected, where it comes from and what evidence the clinic can show you.
A plan that cannot answer these in plain words is not finished yet.
Pain Procedure Checklist, a family-owned desk
Pain Procedure Checklist is a family owned publication that writes checklists for people weighing pain treatment. We judge finished work, not promises. If a plan sounds unfamiliar, the American Academy of Pain Medicine is a good place to read up before you decide. Once you have your questions written down, hold them up against what Metro Pain Centers tells patients about its own care.
Questions to bring to a first appointment
Start with three. What is the pain source you are treating? What was tried before this step? How will we both know it is working? For local and state health information, Clifton's official website and the New Jersey Department of Health are good places to look before you book.
Ask the questions in order. A well done plan has answers ready.
